Far in the future, long after spaceships are considered to be outdated, what used to be known as the In Between has merged with this world. Those spirits that had escaped into the In Between from their own world have become part of our society and integrated into our cultures. Orcs, fairies, centaurs, and all manner of creatures co-exist with humans. Some, though, have an old blood-lust in them. It runs deep, and even those raised in the sweetest of homes have difficulty curbing their most base desires.
The civilization of orcs has evolved over the years. It used to be that a group of lesser orcs would live in poverty and in slavery to a single great orc, whose life was often lavish and bloody. As the civilization advanced, great orcs were born more infrequently. Lesser orcs became peace loving, living in a way that they could all be found equal. A great orc being born became frowned upon, as their selfish behavior caused difficulties for the masses. Before long, great orcs were a thing of the past. The lesser orcs were now just orcs.
Unfortunately, the genes for the makings of a great orc remained in the population. Every so often one would be born, but the orcs no longer recognized them as anything but in need of extra care. They were treated as having an illness, and even stories of the great orcs being anything more than just a burden upon their families were forgotten.
Kolier was born during this time of space travel and peace. He grew up being forced into a role that left him miserable. He was often scolded by his parents for being selfish. Unlike most orcs he struggled to share his possessions, and cared only for those closest to him. He had difficulty making friends, the only one being a rather large and rather angry fairy named Sage.
Along with Sage, he would eventually leave his home and try to find his place in a galaxy that just didn't care that he was a misfit.
Kolier is generally a 'good guy', as villainous as he usually comes across as.
